Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She earned an undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. In 1967 Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), in Washington DC. After two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell joined the panel during 1988's presidential debates, that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for her journalism achievements, such as the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began covering for the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable stories over the years, including fiscal reform, the budget as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell traveled extensively along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
